Initiative Advisory Committee member Professor Russell-Smith recently spoke to a group of corporate attendees on the successes of the ConocoPhillips sponsored indigenous led West Arnhem Land Fire Abatement Project (WALFA).

The presentation, at the South East Asia Australia Offshore & Onshore Conference held in Darwin from the 25th to 27th August 2015, was well attended with a largely corporate audience including companies such as Shell, Santos, Inpex, Origin, HSBC and many more.

As the Conference, Professor Russell-Smith spoke alongside ConocoPhillips VP Sustainable Development executive Ms Kayleen Ewin, outlining how the WALFA project supports the livelihood and culture of remote Indigenous peoples in the north of Australia, how the project is considered a globally model for sustainability, and the science, key benefits, and potential commercialisation for Indigenous communities.
